Overview
CivFund is a non-directional fund that profits from market volatility through automated hedging and LP fees, offering a “perfect hedge” design entrusted entirely to the code. I designed a decentralized application (dapp) that allows users to invest in USDT hedge strategies offered by CivFund, showcasing the stated Net APY and return for investing in the liquidity pool (LP).
As the Product Designer for CivFund, my role involved designing the user experience and interface for the dapp. This included user research, wireframing, prototyping, and conducting usability tests to ensure an intuitive and efficient user journey.

Process
Breaking down the project
Initially, I conducted interviews with potential users to understand their investment behaviors, needs, and expectations when it comes to hedge strategies and LP investments. This research helped identify the key features and user flows that would be essential for the dapp. Additionally, I analyzed competing dapps and financial platforms to learn from their design approaches and identify opportunities for differentiation. Close collaboration with the CivFund team helped me understand the underlying mechanics of the fund and the technical capabilities available
Building on strong foundations
Based on this research, I developed user personas and created wireframes to map out the dapp’s functionality and structure. From there, I created a high-fidelity prototype and conducted usability testing to refine the design and improve the user experience.
Usability Testing
I conducted usability tests with a diverse group of participants from the crypto community to gather feedback on the prototype. These tests helped identify pain points and areas for improvement, enabling iterative adjustments to the design.
Outcome
One of the primary challenges was simplifying complex financial information to ensure it was easily understandable for users with different levels of investment knowledge. To address this, I incorporated clear visual aids like charts and graphs, and provided tooltips and educational content to explain key concepts. Another challenge involved ensuring the security and reliability of the dapp, especially given the automated nature of the hedging strategies. I worked closely with the technical team to integrate robust security features without compromising the user experience.
